Is it ok to take a breath on the first stroke off the wall?

It is very important for your body to be streamlined both underwater when you push off and as you break the surface and begin to swim.  Often if you take a breath the first stroke off the wall you lose your streamlined body position.  This is why most coaches recommend you do not breathe the first stroke off the wall.
