Kim Shettle Keller
The fourth oldest of six girls and a boy, Kim nearly drowned at 18 months when she fell into a neighbor’s pool prompting her mother to see that all of her children learn to swim. Kim and her two younger sisters displayed a competitive ability, which they performed for Reds Hucht and his KCO Swim Team. Kim became a dominate figure in her age group in all strokes and the Individual Medley. During the ensuing years Kim would set high standards and achieve many record performances. Twice shown on the cover of Swimming World from 1970 through 1974, she established seventeen National Age Group Records and thirty First Place Rankings in her total of fifty-seven National Age Group Swimming Rankings.
