Swimmers may belong to and represent a registered swim club, or they may choose to register with USA Swimming without represtenting a registered club. Swimmers may change clubs, or transfer at any time, but penalties may apply.

Attached swimmer - a swimmer who represents a registered club and is a member of USA Swimming.
Unattached swimmer - a swimmer who does not represent a registered club but is a member of USA Swimming.
