Records and Top 10 TimesUnited States Swimming has their own American records, recorded by gender and event, not by age classification. both long course and short course as well as short course meters (that is 25 meter pools) Short Course Meters pools are usually in Europe.. Maryland Swimming keeps their own age group records – by gender, age and event – for the fastest swims done in Maryland (area records). These can be by Maryland Swimming swimmers – or by any swimmer from any LSC, as long as the swim takes place in Maryland at a Maryland Meet. These are kept for both long course and short course. The other set of records are the resident records which are records achieved by any swimmer from the Maryland LSC and swum anywhere in the world. These are also kept by long course and short course. Maryland does not track short course meters for the LSC as most swimmers never compete short course meters in their career. In addition to event records, each year USA Swimming ranks the Top 10 age group swims in the country, by gender, age and event. These are ranked in both long course and short course. Maryland Swimming also ranks the SC Top 10 and LC Top 10 Maryland Swimmers by gender, age and by event. |
